Basin Electric Power Cooperative announced that Gavin McCollam will assume the role of senior vice president & chief operating officer effective Dec. 1, 2022.
“Gavin’s experience makes him a great fit for this position,” said Todd Telesz, Basin Electric chief executive officer and general manager. “He has extensive engineering experience across multiple disciplines and has spent much of his career working for the cooperative family, so he is familiar with Basin Electric’s direction and rural America’s values. We are very happy that he has accepted this responsibility and look forward to having Gavin join our leadership team in his new capacity.”
McCollam has more than 31 years of experience in power plant design and construction. He has also worked at Basin Electric’s subsidiary
Dakota Gasification Company. McCollam has been involved in many projects over the years, including serving as project manager for
Deer Creek Station, Basin Electric’s first combined-cycle generating facility. His most recent role was Basin Electric’s vice president of Engineering and Construction.
“I am fortunate to have worked with outstanding individuals at Basin Electric in support of its
membership and I am very excited to take on this new role,” said McCollam.
McCollam lives in Bismarck, North Dakota, with his wife, Valerie. Together they have two adult daughters, Jessamyn and Jiselle.
