Under this program, each Basin Electric member system is eligible for:
- A maximum match of up to $2,000 for an energy-efficient air-to-air installation, and
- $2,000 for an energy-efficient ground-source installation in a highly visible location.
The cooperative requesting the match must contribute an equal amount of support toward the project, either in direct funding or documented staff “in-kind” support time, such as engineering the system design.
The request for matching heat pump program funds should be made in writing.
This program is available to cooperatives at any time; however, each co-op may only receive a maximum of $4,000 in matching funds ($2,000 air-to-air and $2,000 ground source heat pump).
Examples of past projects include the installation of heat pumps in churches, community centers, agricultural research centers, and other public buildings.
