Matching Donation Fund


Basin Electric’s Charitable Giving Program mission statement is, "To distribute Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s charitable gifts to a wide range of charitable programs for the greatest benefit for the Cooperative’s membership, employees, and communities."

We invite you to apply for matching donations for your cooperative. See guidelines below.

Basin Electric’s key community investment areas

  • Education
  • Health and human services
  • Civic and community betterment
  • Cultural and arts
  • Member matching donations
    • Each year, one-third of the charitable giving budget is allocated for member matching donations.
    • Donation must come from co-op's general fund to be eligible.


Types of support

  • Monetary donations ($250 or more by an individual cooperative)
  • Event/meeting sponsorships
  • Surplus asset donations
  • Youth sports sponsorships
  • Promotional giveaways/advertising
  • In-kind services


Guidelines

  • Donation requests exceeding $5,000 will be reviewed by the Basin Electric’s Charitable Giving Committee on a quarterly basis. To ensure regional and local cooperative commitment, distribution co-ops should receive dollar support from their Generation & Transmission (G&T) Cooperative. The committee will recommend the level of funding, which will be approved or declined by the Cooperative’s CEO and General Manager.
  • Donations of $250-$5,000 will be reviewed by Basin Electric’s Charitable Giving Coordinator on a monthly basis. To ensure regional and local cooperative commitment, distribution co-ops should submit a written support (email/letter) from their G&T Cooperative.


Restrictions

The Basin Electric Charitable Giving Program does not support the following types of organizations or activities:

  • Operation round-up funds via direct match
  • Organizations that discriminate by race, color, creed, gender, or national origin
  • Grants or sponsorship to individuals (pageants, family benefits, etc.)
  • Churches and/or religious groups organized for the purpose of spreading faith beliefs except for non-sectarian social service activities available to the broader community
  • Scholarships and endowments 


Applying for member matching fund

For member matching donations of $250 - $5,000, please send the following information to the charitable giving coordinator at charitablegiving@bepc.com:

  • Name of organization
  • Organization’s 501(c)3 status (if yes, send Tax ID number)
  • Organization’s address
  • What the funds will be used for
  • Dollar amount distribution co-op is donating from their general funds
  • Dollar amount your G&T Cooperative is donating OR G&T Cooperative’s email/letter of support, if applicable
  • Attach letter, brochure, pamphlet, any information you received from the organization

 For member matching donations over $5,000, please send the following information to the charitable giving coordinator at charitablegiving@bepc.com:

  • Name of organization
  • Organization’s 501(c)3 status (if yes, send Tax ID number)
  • Organization’s address
  • What the funds will be used for
  • Dollar amount distribution co-op is donating from their general funds
  • Dollar amount your G&T Cooperative is donating, if applicable
  • Basin Electric’s match of your G&T cooperative’s matching donation will be submitted to the charitable giving committee for consideration
  • Attach letter, brochure, pamphlet, any information you received from the organization

 The day a Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) member submits intent to leave BEPC membership, they are no longer eligible for member matching funds going forward.

At its sole discretion, Basin Electric Power Cooperative reserves the right to make any final decisions on all member matching donations.
